The Palouse
The Palouse
Our lives frequently resemble this landscape and often we are quick to wrongfully judge the state of our landscape - as we are so often wrongfully judging the state of others' landscapes as well.
We see the lush, green land in contrast to the browns on other hills, and rejoice in the lush land while despairing over the brown, dry ground.
We are so quick to assume that the brown land is dry and barren, never realizing that the brown land has simply been harvested. And that harvest was not wasted. That harvest has done much for us and those around us - leaving that ground fresh to be fertile again.
As the wise author of Ecclesiastes once wrote: "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."
Let us rejoice in the vast diversity of lives and the seasons therein.
